Historical Society announces results of the David A. Garfinkel Essay Contest

The Historical Society of the Courts of the State of New York has announced the results of its David A. Garfinkel Essay Contest.

The first prize ($1,500) was won by Leah Reino of Genesee Community College and the second prize was won by Kerri Pickard-DePriest of Onondaga Community College. The prizes will be presented at the Law Day ceremony in Court of Appeals Hall on Monday, May 3. The event will be simulcast at http://www.courts.state.ny.us/ctapps/ and will be available later as a webcast.

This annual contest invites SUNY and CUNY community college students from around the State to write an original essay on a specific topic of legal history. This year the topic was The Evolution of Justice along the Erie Canal.
