Registration Now Open - ALLUNY Annual Meeting

Registration is now open for the 2016 ALLUNY Annual Meeting, scheduled to take place November 4-6, at the Hilton Garden Inn in Auburn, New York.

All of the information you need is available through our new website, currently in the process of being redesigned by ALLUNY member Margaret Ambrose. You will have the option to register and pay electronically, or download a pdf and pay by check.

Please note the following important deadlines:
  • Deadline to reserve a hotel room at the discounted rate of $119/night: Wednesday, October 12
  • Deadline to register for the meeting: Friday, October 28 
Please also note that one tour has a first-come, first-serve cap on the number of people who may attend (but there is another, equally fun, concurrent tour!)

Grants & Awards for ALLUNY's Annual Meeting

Don't forget to submit applications for the following grants. Also if you would like to nominate someone for the Katie M. Deveau Spirit Award please do so by the deadline.

The deadline for both is Friday September 26.

Ernest H. Breuer Memorial Grant
One grant in the amount of $250 will be awarded to a member to attend the ALLUNY annual meeting. The application may be submitted online or printed and mailed.

Library Studies Student Grant
One grant in the amount of $150 may be awarded to a library science/studies student to attend the ALLUNY annual meeting. The application may be submitted online or printed and mailed.

Katie M. Deveau Spirit Award
The Katie M. Deveau Spirit Award honors those individuals or groups who perform volunteer service for the greater good without regard for personal gain and who inspire others through their community service. Eligible nominees for this award, which is presented annually at the fall conference, include members of ALLUNY in good standing who volunteer in ANY community service organization OR any individuals or groups (not necessarily ALLUNY members) who make volunteer contributions directly benefitting ALLUNY. The nomination form may be submitted online or printed and mailed.

ALLUNY Annual Meeting Registration Now Open

This year we have amazing speakers lined up, a great venue with a wonderful view of the City of Syracuse, and the option for online registration and payment. Here at the Syracuse College of Law we are particularly excited to be able to offer tours of our brand new facilities!

I look forward to seeing you all in Syracuse to celebrate ALLUNY's diamond anniversary year conference, the theme of which will be "ALLUNY: A Foot in the Past, an Eye to the Future."

ALLUNY grants

ALLUNY's Annual meeting will be taking place in Albany this year starting on Friday, October 18. We have two grants available to help with the cost of attending the meetings. The deadline to apply for either grant is Friday, September 27, 2013.

Ernest H. Breuer Memorial Grant

Renew Your AALL Membership Early for a Chance to Win a Free 2011 AALL Annual Meeting Registration

In March, AALL dues invoices for 2011-2012 mailed out to all library directors for their institutionally paid memberships and to all other individual members. The deadline for membership renewal is May 31.

When you renew early—by May 1—you will be entered in a drawing for a free 2011 AALL Annual Meeting and Conference registration. If you renew on time—by May 31—you'll be entered in a drawing for a free AALL webinar of your choice in 2011-2012. Following is the 2011 membership renewal schedule:

  • March: First dues invoices mailed out.
  • May: Second dues invoices mailed out.
  • June: Final dues invoices mailed out.
  • July: Expiration notices e-mailed to all members—individuals and those paid by institutions.
  • August 1: Expired members deleted from the AALL membership database and access to the AALLNET Members Only Section and Law Library Journal and AALL Spectrum subscriptions discontinued.

Please join us at ALLUNY's 56th Annual Meeting, to be held from October 1 - October 3, 2010, at the Rensselaerville Meeting Center in Rensselaerville, NY.  At this year's meeting, we'll be "Surveying the Environmental Landscape," exploring the vast terrains of environmental and animal law, in New York State and beyond, for professional and personal development.  In addition to overviews of law and research essentials, we'll examine some hot legal topics and investigate issues in librarianship.

2010 FCIL Schaffer Grant for Foreign Law Librarians

The Foreign, Comparative and International Law Special Interest Section (FCIL-SIS) of the American Association of Law Libraries is now accepting applications for the 2010 FCIL Schaffer Grant for Foreign Law Librarians.

The FCIL Schaffer Grant for the July 10-13, 2010 Annual Meeting in Denver, Colorado provides a waiver of the AALL Annual Meeting full registration fee and a grant of a minimum $2,000 to assist with accommodations and travel costs.

Applicants must be law librarians, or other professionals working in the legal information field, currently employed in countries other than the United States with significant responsibility for the organization, preservation, or provision of legal information. The application deadline is March 15, 2010. The Grant Committee will not consider late or incomplete applications.
